About:
Operating engineers operate the bulldozers, motor graders, backhoes, paving machinery and cranes that help to form highways, site infrastructure and skylines. They work mines, dig wells, survey sites, pave and grind roads, dig tunnels, drill and hoist steel and slabs. They also do the final grading as well as maintain or repair machinery. Operating engineers may travel up to 80 miles or more to job sites.
TRAINING:
3-4 years of classroom and on the job training.
