About:
Drafters prepare technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software to convert designs of architects and engineers into detailed construction drawings. They create structural, architectural, and civil engineering drawings that contain information on dimensions, materials, and construction methods. Drafters work closely with architects and engineers to ensure drawings are accurate and meet building codes. They may specialize in architectural, civil, electrical, or mechanical drafting and often use building information modeling (BIM) systems.
TRAINING:
Associate degree in drafting or related field from community college or technical school; proficiency in CAD software required
